Market

Apple Computer said on Monday that it has sold more than 1 million videos in the 19 days since it launched its video iPod and started selling TV shows, short films and a wider assortment of music videos.

Apple introduced the video iPod and started selling the TV shows and other videos on Oct. 12. at a splashy press event in San Jose, Calif.

As Apple CEO Steve Jobs comments, selling 1 million videos in less than 20 days strongly suggests that there is a market for legal video downloads.

As widely expected, Google waded into the instant messaging space today with the debut of Google Talk, an Instant Messenging client that also offers the ability to make voice calls between computers.

You have to have a Gmail account to get Google account. You can download Google Talk here

As said, Google’s got a real challenge in weaning people away from existing clients. Just look at the installed user bases of its rivals, from figures comScore sent out yesterday to the media. Figures are the millions of unique visitors each service had in July 2005

AOL AIM (for non-AOL subscribers): 30.9 million
MSN Messenger: 23.3 million
AOL AIM (for AOL members): 23.1 million
Yahoo Messenger: 21.6 million
AOL ICQ: 1.8 million

Yahoo! Audio Search

Yahoo Audio will not include songs from file-sharing sites such as Kazaa and Grokster, which are often used to trade copyrighted music. If a record label complains about any song featured on the site, Yahoo Audio will take it off the list. (According to USA Today)

Updated: Yahoo is NOT the first one with such a meta-search and rev share service: San Francisco based GoFish Technologies has had a similar compare-and-buy service for some time now.
