I have been using VCSD for two years now, and have been very pleased with the improvements that Avnex has made to the software. Each version gets better and better. The program runs fast, doesn’t crash, has tremendous features, and all of its modules interact perfectly.

I create voiceovers and audio dramas using this program. It allows me to create and manage all of the voices while employing only one voice talent – me! With the included voice packages, it’s easy to find just the right one for each character. I appreciate the way in which the recorder and player are instantly available and how the recorder automatically pre-names the files for you.

While you can do some pretty crazy-sounding voices with it, I have also found it very useful in making very small adjustments to a voice in order to make it just a little deeper and richer, more professional sounding. My own natural voice is nothing to write home about, but with just a small adjustment, it gains enough character to be used in voiceovers; with further adjustments, an almost endless variety of character voices are just a setting away. I also like that I can save the settings and come back later to record more dialog for that character and be able to reproduce the same audio qualities, thereby getting the consistency I need. Knowing that I can come back anytime and redo lines or do more lines and sound the same each time makes the production flow more easily.

I also like the new, sleek interface, although sometimes I revert back to the classic skin, as the controls are more familiar to me in that configuration. Speaking of controls, it’s great to be able to make every setting with just a few clicks or by simply dragging the slider or the marker. Also, the instant feedback feature is tremendously helpful, in that you can hear each change you make dynamically as it happens, so that you eliminate the guesswork of whether or not the changes you make are working. When you’re satisfied with the settings and ready to record, you just turn off the feedback for the duration of the take. It’s so easy. I have not seen another program that has so many useful features that is put together so well, and consistently delivers the performance you need. Thanks Avnex for a great piece of software!
